Screencasting in the Classroom

CLASSROOM USES

  • Demonstrate how to use a software program
  • Demonstrate how to do something on a computer (e.g. copy an image from the internet)--especially good if they need to do a series of steps
  • Give a guided tour through a website
  • Capture the visuals on your screen (e.g. PowerPoint slides) as well as your lecture for absent students, your own archives, etc.
  • Digital storytelling--students can narrate a tour through a work portfolio or other series of documents, a series of images, etc.
  • Have students give you their work electronically, and then give them feedback through screencasting with their work on your screen
